Crape Jasmine

I was very happy to find the first flower on my crape jasmine this morning. We have had one big crape jasmine for 4 years and I grew the new one from a cutting last spring. I failed 2 times and finally this one started growing well.
I'd like to suggest everybody to have crape jasmine. The plant is beautiful and has white flowers which bloom with a beautiful scent all year. The plant is also easy to take care of. I'd love to share some cuttings with you, if you want some.

Butter Tarts

When I baked pecan pie last week, Andrew told me that the pecan pie was similar to butter tarts. I had never tried butter tarts so we checked online and found they are a Canadian treat. Andrew didn't know this. I thought I should bake the tarts on Canada day.
The recipe said to bake them for 15-20 minutes. Andrew likes them "firm" so I baked them for 20 minutes.
My Canadian husband said my tarts had too many raisins and they are supposed to be on the bottom. I might try to bake them again to make them better.

Dried Strawberries

When I made candied citrus peels, I wondered if I could do the same for another type of fruit as well. I tried it with strawberries. I cooked the strawberries in a pot and dried them in the oven at 100℃ for one hour on each side. The strawberry became a dark colour and shrank to 1/5 of its original size. The strawberry has a sweet and rich flavor. It reminds me of raisins.

Morning View

It was misty on the lake this morning. I like it and decided to take a picture.

Teriyaki Chicken Burgers

This picture below is of the teriyaki chicken burger I made for lunch today. I baked and saved some buns from the weekend. The burger was very delicious with some honey mustard sauce.

Hamburgers

I made hamburgers for lunch today. My buns were a little more flat than usual but it made it easier to eat the hamburgers.

Pecan Pie

I made a pecan pie today. I needed to make the pie crust as quick as I could because the temperature was around 30 ℃ (which is bad for crusts).
I couldn't put the pecans on nicely because I was in a hurry.
The pecan pie was very sweet. I made whipping cream without sugar and put it on the pie.
